How to paint flowers and still life without using grey.

Flowers, still life and buildings will come to life. The secret is not to use grey! Give them impact with a variety of tertiary colours mixed from a limited palette. Also provide contrast with dark tones. Learn how to do this quickly and easily.

What to Bring

  • French Ultramarine Blue, Quinacridone Magenta, Quinacridone Gold, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Cerulean Blue. Susie recommends Winsor & Newton – they are excellent quality and will ensure an optimum result.

  • Cold pressed watercolour pad A4 or A3. Please don’t bring cheap quality paper from a discount store or expect an inferior result.

  • Large watercolour palette, alternatively white plastic or ceramic plate.

  • Watercolour brushes size 12 & 16. Synthetic round brushes from Bunnings craft section (under $5 each) are excellent. Small brushes not needed.

  • 2B pencil, eraser, note book.

  • Soft cloth for wiping brushes.

  • Roll of paper towel.

  • Masking tape or clips.

  • Water containers
