Create original hand printed linocut artworks without a press!

You will learn basic skills with strong encouragement to dig deep into your own creative imagination. Endless fun with like-minded students who contribute to the exploration of this fascinating art form.

Cilla Campbell is an experienced teacher and artist who will guide you through the lino carving and printing process using non-toxic water-based inks.

Course Outline

  • How to cut relief prints

  • How to print without a press

  • How to choose suitable paper / lino / vinyl / cutting tools / inks / rollers / brayers

  • Learn a brief overview of relief printmaking

  • Returning students will learn a variety of techniques eg mono prints / overlays / stencilling / reduction prints and more

Learning Outcomes

  • Learn a variety of techniques for cutting a relief print

  • Learn a variety of techniques for printing a relief print without a press

  • Gain an overview for choices of materials and tools used in relief printmaking

  • Know how to create relief prints without a press

Materials List

  • Speedball relief print cutting tools (or similar)

  • 3 x A4 (approx) vinyl or lino print tiles (Vinyl tiles are softer to cut)

  • $5 at start of term to contribute to class inks / papers / rollers etc.
