OVERVIEW
Saturday 14 July – Saturday 21st July
This tour begins at Alice Springs airport, with the arrival of the midday flight from Sydney. Our bus will depart shortly after for the 80km drive to Ross River. If you are already in Alice the bus can collect you from the Aurora or Chifley hotels or, if self driving you can follow us to Ross River.
Our days will be spent creating art in some of Australia’s most breathtaking scenery which includes wide sandy river beds with majestic River Red gums, vast plains of spinifex and mulgas and the beautiful nearby N’Dhala Gorge with its unique Aboriginal rock engravings. Or you can relax in the shaded studio with a good book ; maybe take a self guided bush walk to study the fossils and ancient geological formations.
The 4WD air-conditioned vehicles are specifically designed for comfort, safety and reliability. There will be daily trips to different destinations for you and your art equipment. Painting stools, drawing boards and paint water bottles, also a quantity of easels are supplied for your use. There is an extensive natural history and Australian art library and informative talks about the bush tucker, medicine, geology and natural history of the area. There are self guided bush walks for partners who wish to join the tour but not create art with us.
The tour ends Saturday 21 when we transfer to Alice Springs airport to take the flight to Sydney around noon. Or you may prefer to spend a few days in Alice Springs – www.centralaustraliantourism.com.
TESTIMONIALS
ROSS RIVER, CENTRAL AUSTRALIA: Another well planned adventure, this time to the Red Centre. What a joy to be able to visit so many beautiful and rugged locations, perfect for any artist. Thank you Cilla for your guidance with my sketching and watercolour painting, it was invalauable and has spurred me on to continue dabbling. I look forward in the not too distant future, joining you for another adventurewhere we try to re-recreate the wonders of nature on paper.
