Our driver – Bernie Baker – has driven coaches around Australia for 15 years.   Hill End sits above the Turon River Valley and is surrounded by scenic bush country.  Wealth from the gold rush saw the village boom in 1872. By the 1950’s, long after the end of the gold rush and later the depression; the town became a popular destination for many of Australia’s greatest artists including Lloyd Rees, Donald Friend, Russell Drysdale, Margaret Olley, John Olsen and Brett Whitely.  It continues as an artist haven.
