Draw a Portrait One Day Workshop

OVERVIEW

School: WEA (Workers Education Association)

Study techniques of famous artists and their mark making. Draw plaster casts of the skull and face as well as human faces in a variety of  poses.  Suitable for beginners and more advanced students.

CURRICULUM

  • Drawing the skull and what lies beneath the skin – The skull.
  • Drawing the planes of the face with line and tone – Beethoven’s death mask.
  • Studying the Masters & and their mark making.
  • Measuring and Proportions – Michaelangelo’s David.
  • Drawing a self-portrait.
  • Drawing a life model.
  • Experimental drawing.
  • Putting your knowledge together – free subject choice.


PLANNED LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Complete several drawings using a range of media.
  2. Gain confidence and respect for your drawing ability through the skills learnt.
  3. Use drawing skills such as tone, technique and composition.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Pencils (a selection of 3 or more pencils ranging from HB to 6B)
  • Grey Faber Castell Kneadable Rubber
  • A3 or larger sketch pad
  • Hand mirror for self portrait
