ABOUT JUDY DREW
I am delighted to host one of Australia’s finest pastel artists, Judy Drew, for a fourth weekend workshop in Sydney
ABOUT JUDY DREW
After studying graphic art in Melbourne, Judy Drew moved to Bougainville Island for nine years. Her oil paintings, pastels and watercolours of the local people established her reputation as a fine artist. Upon returning to Australia and for the past thirty years she has produced both figurative and still life works.
Influence of Japanese art on the post impressionists has lead to a gradual change in her style; using simplified colour and shape to create a more contemporary edge. Judy’s work glows with an intensity of colour rarely seen in pastels. Represented by Melbourne Fine Art Gallery her work is in high demand by investors, galleries and private collections worldwide.
Dates: Fri 21st, Sat 22nd and Sun 23rd September 2018
CLASS INFORMATION
Friday 21st September
Friday 21st September

CHARCOAL PORTRAIT DEMONSTRATION
1.00 – 4.00pm
Friday will be a discussion and demonstration with charcoal. Judy will encourage drama in your work through the dramatic use of light and a free and more confident technique. (Portrait model in attendance.)
Saturday 22nd September
LIFE MODEL DEMONSTRATION AND WORKSHOP
10.30am – 4.30pm
We will be working in colour with a life model on black Mei-teinte TEX paper. Students will be encouraged to develop their sense of observation through measuring with the eye. We will discuss what makes a strong composition and how to develop a thick luscious pastel surface to add texture and a heightened colour value.
Capturing a likeness is only part of the success. Bold, spontaneous and vigorous line work will add real emotion to the work.
