Life Drawing

OVERVIEW
School: WEA (Workers Education Association)

You will be able to draw anything if you master the human figure. This is an entertaining and practical course suitable for the beginner and intermediate artist (advanced artists are welcome). Various techniques are offered with both short and long poses and a different model each week. Creative drawing is encouraged.

CURRICULUM
The life model will hold both short and long poses and exercises include drawing with line, tone, gesture, negative space, blind contour, measuring and proportions. We will observe drawings by famous artists including Matisse, Schiele, Picasso and others.

  • Life Model. Quick poses and long pose. Left handed drawing.
  • Life Model. Quick poses and long pose. Using Charcoal and rubber.
  • Life Model. Quick poses and long pose. Tonal drawing.
  • Life Model. Quick poses and long pose. Drawing the skull and face.
  • Life Model. Quick drawing and long pose. Drawing with ink and a variety of sticks.
  • Life Model and review of disciplines learnt throughout the term.


PLANNED LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  • Illustrate how to draw a figure using a range of techniques and styles.

WHAT TO BRING

  • 2B pencil
  • Firm rubber and Faber Castell Kneadable Rubber
  • Willow charcoal
  • A2 or larger drawing pad
  • Optional: Ink, variety of sticks, watercolour paint brush

If you have other drawing material and surfaces, you are welcome to bring them.
