OVERVIEW

Susie Murphie is a watercolour artist with more than 30 years experience. She shares her passion through teaching; skilfully capturing a moment in time with landscape, still life and animal subjects.

Learn to capture the essence of dogs, cats and other animals using watercolour – it’s usually about their eyes. Bring photos of your pets or use Susie’s reference material. She will impart essential tips and tricks for keeping watercolours transparent with a limited colour palette. This workshop will teach you to simplify a subject quickly and effectively.

Susie’s priority is beautiful paint quality.

Is this course right for you: 

Artists of all levels are welcome however experience with watercolour is recommended with attendance at a beginner watercolour workshop.

 

 

CLASS INFORMATION

WHAT TO BRING

  • Brushes•French Ultramarine Blue, Quinacridone Magenta, Quinacridone Gold, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna. Susie recommends Winsor & Newton – they are excellent quality and will ensure an optimum result.
  • Cold pressed watercolour pad A4 or A3. Please don’t bring cheap quality paper from a discount stores as it produces an inferior result.
  • Large watercolour palette or a large white plastic or ceramic plate.
  • Watercolour brushes size 12 & 16. Synthetic round brushes from Bunnings craft section (under $5 each) are excellent. You will not need small brushes.
  • 2B pencil, eraser, note book.
  • Roll of paper towel.
  • Masking tape or clips.
